Adrian Peterson Injury: Sources Say Vikings’ Star RB May Have Torn ACL

The Vikings may be claiming that Adrian Peterson's injury is nothing more than a sprain, but there is reason to believe that the injury is far more serious than they are leading on.
Fox Sports' Jay Glazer says sources are saying the initial feeling is that AP's ACL is torn. If that holds true, it's going to be devastating for the rebuilding Vikings.
Minnesota can't afford to have Peterson take a step backwards. Even with the best back in the league and a Defensive Player of the Year candidate, they had trouble notching victories.
If Peterson regresses and has to enter next season coming off of major knee surgery, it's going to cripple their porous offense even further.
The ugly injury would be a fitting way for the Vikings' season to end. With the fan base as frustrated as it is, letting the cat out of the bag and telling the world how bad Peterson's injury actually is may not be the best route to go.
