Playing for a fantasy football championship in Week 17 of the NFL regular season comes with plenty of pitfalls.
The teams out of contention have no reason to take any risks, which is why players like Tyler Eifert, T.J. Yeldon and Carlos Hyde have all been placed on the injured reserve. Why risk injured players in meaningless games?
While those moves give us clear answers on players’ statuses, decisions on playing time for players on teams that are locked into a playoff seed can be less clear. As I covered in my look at motivations for playing in Week 17, the Dallas Cowboys, New York Giants, Pittsburgh Steelers and Houston Texans cannot help or hurt their playoff seeding.
