Joseph Addai Should Sign with Detroit Lions

The New England Patriots abruptly released Joseph Addai last month amid rumors that he quit on his conditioning test.  The former first-round pick remains unemployed.    
After Week 1, NFL teams can offer non-guaranteed base salaries to veterans like Addai.  The Lions need to be the team to do that.    
With injury concerns looming, Detroit really needs more depth and experience at running back. 
We all know that there is too much uncertainty surrounding Jhavid Best's concussions—the latest report from Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press has him out of action for "weeks, not days."  After nine months off already?  That situation does not look good at all.
