Running back Matt Asiata and the Minnesota Vikings have a mutual interest in joining forces again in 2016, according to Chris Tomasson of the St. Paul Pioneer Press.

Asiata, Vikings Intersted In 2016 Pairing Saturday, March 5 Asiata is expected to test free agency if the Vikings' financial offer doesn't meet his standards, per Tomasson. The four-year veteran made $800,000 last year on a one-year deal, per Spotrac.
Asiata has been a reliable backup the past two seasons, particularly when Adrian Peterson missed 15 games in 2014 while on the commissioner’s exempt list. That year, he tallied 570 yards and nine touchdowns on 164 attempts. 
His role naturally decreased when Peterson returned last season and won his third rushing title. Asiata rushed 29 times for 112 yards and zero touchdowns in 2015.
