If you don't know by know (and you really should) the NFL Draft isn't necessarily a ranking of "best players" to come out of college. If you're looking for one, check out Mel Kiper or Todd McShay's Big Board and not the festivities in New York City on April 28.
Instead, the draft centers just as much on talent as it does on the needs of the team selecting.
In other words, just because a player slips to the second round doesn't mean there are 32 "better" players than him.
That's exactly how I look at the future of Jake Locker. At this point it seems a given that Cam Newton and Blain Gabbert before any other quarterbacks. And all signs point to both players going Top 10.
But as soon as Newton follows Gabbert or Gabbert follows Newton the count will start on how many teams pass up Jake Locker.
