San Francisco 49ers: The Breakdown of NFL Labor Talks Is a Crushing Blow

The San Francisco 49ers can't catch a break. In the year they have the No. 1 overall draft pick, there is no guaranteed lock, so they end up selecting Alex Smith.
Now, in the year when they most need a full training camp and all the time they can get to put together their team, it's not going to happen.
This is the article I hoped I would never have to write. No team in the NFL will be hurt more than the San Francisco 49ers because of the breakdown of labor negotiations and resulting lockout.
I am not going to go into all of the details between the players union and the owners because we have been inundated with it for the past several weeks. The bottom line is the two groups cannot decide how to come up with an equitable split of $9 billion.
Once again, it's the fans that get the shaft.
