Tebow’s #1 Now…But Will He Still Be Come September?

There are many cases, both in sports and in pop culture, where a person’s name can exceed their talent.
Look at Michael Jordan and Shaquille O’Neal. Jordan is already retired while O'Neal is very close to calling it a career. But both men have done so much for the NBA. Even after their playing days are over, His Airness and The Big Aristotle will still compete with contemporary superstars like Kobe, LeBron, and D-Wade in merchandise sales.
Tim Tebow could experience the opposite effect.
Tebow, as we all know, was recently drafted 25th overall by the Denver Broncos. Tebow's presence creates a competition for Denver’s starting QB job, which will most likely go to Kyle Orton once, as NFL Network’s Rich Eisen would say, toe meets ball this fall.
While the results of this major front office decision are yet to be seen on the field, the impact on the league's accounting books has already been substantial.
