Unofficial NFL Census Sheds Light on NFL Player Salaries

BestTickets.com has published an incredible study on NFL players, where they are from and how they compare to each other in the NFL. The site calls it The Unofficial 2013 NFL Player Census, and you should probably go check it out.
For this article, I'll be taking a look at just one of the many pieces of data from the study: salary.
The NFL is truly the most lucrative sports league in the world. According to Forbes, the operating income of the 32 NFL teams was $984.5 million in 2005. Deals with NBC, FOX, ESPN and CBS will bring in more than $3 billion for the NFL over the next five years.
Why is it then, that NFL players have the lowest average pay rate of the "big four" United States sports? At just over $2 million, NFL players are beat out by NHL, MLB and NBA players. 
According to the data provided by Best Tickets, nearly 72 percent of the players in the league are between the ages of 20 and 27. The average salary for these players is just over $1.4 million. ...
