How Cam Thomas Saved The Chargers Draft

Before this year's draft, it seemed nearly every mock draft had the Chargers selecting Alabama's Terrence Cody with their first-round pick.
Chargers fans were pretty well split in opinion in regards to what position the Chargers would fill first this year. The debate centered primarily around a running back to replace LaDainian Tomlinson or a DT/NT to replace Jamal Williams.
I learned a lot watching this year's draft. Perhaps the biggest thing I learned is unless you have a pick in the top three, and a very specific need to be filled, mock drafts are about as valid as dear Santa letters. This is followed closely by NEVER predict A.J Smith's next move.
But I gave in anyway, and and rolled the ball of speculation. Surprisingly, my mock draft had the Chargers with a first-round running back in Jahvid Best, and the second-round (40) spot with DE Tyson Alualu.
