Santonio Holmes’ Ribs and Other News from Saturday’s Jets Scrimmage

According to a release by the New York Jets on their Twitter feed, x-rays on Santonio Holmes' ribs came back negative.  He is listed day-to-day as he deals with soreness.
It was feared that Holmes broke his ribs after a hit by Antonio Cromartie, who may have stood to gain an increased workload at receiver if the receiver missed a significant amount of time.
For now, is is great news that there were no breaks as the Jets are already dealing with a thin receiving corps thanks to a rash of minor injuries.  Bruised ribs can be just as sore as broken ribs though, so Holmes may be limited for some time.  
As for the scrimmage itself, Cimini and Jenny Vrentas both tweeted that Mark Sanchez played well, finishing 11-for-16 for 82 yards and an eight-yard touchdown pass to Bilal Powell, who continued his impressive camp.
