Alex Smith Urges Crowd to Boo Him While Giving Commencement Address at Utah

Alex Smith was the big man on campus back when he went 21-1 as the Utah Utes starting quarterback and led the team to a Fiesta Bowl victory. Since becoming the the No. 1 pick in the 2005 NFL draft, Smith has had to overcome a lot of adversity to get to where he is now.
From poor performances to injuries, fans have always been on him. He was given a new start after being traded from the San Francisco 49ers to the Kansas City Chiefs before last season.
Everything that has happened to him in his career has had a lasting impact. Smith shared his story with this year's graduating class at Utah in his commencement address after receiving an honorary degree from the university.
Instead of a monotonous, traditional speech, the 29-year-old NFL quarterback—facing his fears of public speaking and being heckled—got the crowd involved.
Smith can laugh at the past now and did a great job of having some fun with it.
