Sticking with Gabbert here even though Carolina has more pressing needs and there are better players on the board. But here's the wrinkle nobody's talking about that makes Gabbert the logical pick.
Sam Bradford, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2010 NFL Draft, got $50 million guaranteed before he even stepped onto the field. But with no CBA the Panthers won't have to pony up that kind of cash, which means there's a lot less risk in taking a potential franchise quarterback first overall.
