2010 NFL Preview: San Diego Chargers Calling for Play-Makers, Hopefully

One thing I was bummed out about last pre-season were the final cuts made at the wide receiver category.
Charger fans were treated to several great performances by Charley Martin. He looked like a great addition to the Chargers receiver corps, and every game he put his heart and soul into his performance.
After several games with multiple grabs, tough catches, and solid play, he was cut and disappeared off the Chargers roster with really no reason given.
After his departure, a couple other players rested comfortably. Real comfortably, actually; like on the bench in a clean uniform all season comfortably.
So I have to wonder to myself, whats the point in pre-season? To see who looks best on paper? To see who got drafted highest? To determine who gets payed the most? No, it's to see who's gonna perform in the clutch. In game time.
