Bruce Ellington Injury: Updates on 49ers WR’s Hamstring and Recovery

The San Francisco 49ers placed wide receiver Bruce Ellington on season-ending injured reserve Tuesday after he suffered a torn hamstring in last Friday's preseason game against the Green Bay Packers.

Ellington's Injury Creates Multiple Voids for Niners Tuesday, Aug. 30 Matt Barrows of the Sacramento Bee first reported the news. Ian Rapoport of NFL Network confirmed the roster move.
Ellington hasn't made much of an offensive impact since the 49ers selected him in the fourth round of the 2014 draft. He caught just 19 passes across his first two seasons.
His main contributions have come on special teams. The South Carolina product was projected as the team's kick and punt returner heading into the 2016 season before the injury setback.
