Cam Newton Declares For NFL Draft: Why Arizona Will Take Him

As many people predicted, it is now official that college superstar and winner of a dozen awards Cam Newton has declared for the 2011 NFL draft. Now we have a long way to go before April's draft, with the combine, pro scouts and private workouts still to come.
But with an announcement like this comes speculation on the part of many. So I am here to offer some speculation of my own.
Seeing as how I am a 49ers fan, this pains me to write a column about the Arizona Cardinals, the team that finished below us in the lowly NFC West.
The Cardinals took a major step back this year, finishing 5-11 while controlling the No. 5 pick in the upcoming draft.
Although they were prone to give up the big plays on defense and allowed just over 27 points/game, the glaring weakness they have is at the QB position.
They went through a carousel of quarterbacks this year, starting players such as Derek Anderson, Max Hall and John Skelton. Talk about a less than stellar bunch, eh?
