City In Waiting: When Will The Cleveland Browns Get Their Superstar?

It was 1965 when Jim Brown called it a career and retired from football. For those who hate to do the math that was 45 years ago. 45 years since our last superstar. It seems to me every other team in the NFL either has a player somewhere in their depth chart that could be considered a superstar or has had one in the very recent past. Even Detroit had Barry Sanders until 1998 and they have some nice talent in Calvin Johnson and Matthew Stafford who looks like the second coming of Brett Favre after throwing a touchdown (against the Browns no less) with a separated shoulder. So while everyone has to endure some losing seasons and subsequent rebuilding sometime or another, everyone but the Browns seem to have a player worth watching in the meantime. We placed an ad collectively as fans in 1999 when the Browns returned as an expansion team after Art Modell's back door delivery of the Ravens to Baltimore. The ad was for a superstar football player the likes of one Jim Brown...
