Yes, I said it: Darrelle Revis of the New York Jets is not the best cornerback in the NFL.
And Raiders fans will agree with me on this: Nnamdi Asomugha is.
Asomugha may not have the stats to prove it, but the reason he doesn't is because quarterbacks are terrified to throw toward him.
Asomugha has 11 career interceptions over eight seasons. You may expect more, but the guy is just too good.
Revis may have 14 interceptions, but that is because during his first couple years, quarterbacks didn't think of him as a terrible threat. Now they do, so like Asomugha, Revis won't be getting as many tackles, pass deflections and interceptions.
If we were talking about best cornerbacks in the league over the past ten years, it would probably be Champ Bailey and Charles Woodson.
Almost all of Revis' interceptions were on extremely poorly thrown balls. Asomugha actually makes plays.
Revis has gotten beat by Demaryius Thomas, Ted Ginn Jr. and Randy Moss, just to name...
