Denver Broncos: Quarterback Likely Not in Their Draft Future

While the Denver Broncos have scouted each of the major quarterbacks in the draft, the analysts are starting to be sold that Denver will not be selecting a quarterback with the No. 2 overall pick.
Scouts Inc. only ranks three quarterbacks in the top-32: Blaine Gabbert at No. 5, Cam Newton at No. 16 and Jake Locker at No. 26.
Denver traded up in last year’s draft to select Tim Tebow. The Broncos also have Kyle Orton and Brady Quinn as possible options. No matter who takes the majority of snaps, the likely option will come from the Broncos current personnel.
Both Mel Kiper and Todd McShay believe Denver will not be using their pick on a quarterback, regardless of what the Carolina Panthers do with the first overall pick. In fact, Kiper and McShay have come to a consensus that the Broncos will select Alabama defensive tackle Marcell Dareus with the No. 2 pick.
