Derek Carrier to Redskins: Latest Trade Details, Comments and Reaction

The San Francisco 49ers traded tight end Derek Carrier to the Washington Redskins on Friday, the team announced:
Matt Barrows of the Sacramento Bee reported Washington sent a conditional fifth-round draft pick in exchange for the tight end.
Washington is in need of help at the tight end position, with Niles Paul and Logan Paulsen out for the season. Its next option, Jordan Reed, has had a bevy of injury problems as well, missing 12 games in the past two seasons and is currently recovering from a hamstring issue.
Without the deal, the Redskins would have been moving forward with Je'Ron Hamm, Chase Dixon and Devin Mahina, three tight ends who have never seen NFL action. While Carrier hasn't shown he has the ability to be a starter at the NFL level to this point, he will add depth to a group laden with uncertainty.
