Detroit Lions: Kevin Smith Placed on IR, Maurice Morris Expects More Carries

November 21, 2010   ·     ·   Jump to comments

Kevin Smith has been placed on IR successfully ending his season after receiving a brutal hit from a Bill's helmet-to-hand hit.  LB Caleb Campbell has been signed off the practice squad, after being drafted in the seventh round of the 2008 draft.
RB Maurice Morris is expected to be the backup to Jahvid Best for the remainder of the season.  Morris was the last running back to rush for over a 100 yards.  Aaron Brown is expected to stay off the inactive list at least for a while for specialty roles.
Jason Hanson will look to return for the Thanksgiving game against the New England Patriots.
How does this change anything for the rushing game?  Probably doesn't.  As far as Jahvid Best being the starter all season, unless injured, Best will remain the starter.  This may also be the last chance for Morris and Aaron Brown to make an impact in showing how much value they bring to the team.
