Detroit Lions Place Amari Spievey on IR, Activate Drayton Florence

The Detroit Lions placed safety Amari Spievey on season-ending injured reserve Saturday, according to Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press. The 24-year-old has not played since suffering a concussion in the Lions’ Week 7 loss to the Chicago Bears.
It was Spievey’s second concussion of the year—the first came in the Lions’ wild-card loss to the New Orleans Saints in January. He also suffered two concussions prior to beginning his NFL career.
Cornerback Drayton Florence has been activated from short-term injured reserve and will play Sunday against the Green Bay Packers. He has been out since Week 2 because of a broken forearm.
Florence is faced with the difficult task of shutting down Aaron Rodgers and a talented group of receivers. However, defensive coordinator Gunther Cunningham is confident the veteran will perform well, according to the Detroit Free Press.
