Draft Picks 2010: Derrick Morgan Gives Titans Much Needed Defensive Boost

With the 16th pick in the 2010 NFL Draft, the Tennessee Titans select Derrick Morgan, defensive end, Georgia Tech.
 
And boy, is he just what the doctor ordered.
 
After the selection, Tennessee held a press conference and made it clear they were looking for a defensive lineman in the first round.
 
They didn’t expect Morgan to be available at 16 but when he dropped out of the top 10, Mike Reinfeldt, Jeff Fisher and Titans defensive line coach Jim Washburn all began to get their hopes up.
 
This draft is rich with defense and I expect Tennessee to continue drafting defense on Friday throughout Sunday.
 
But why Derrick Morgan exactly?
 
Is it because he was the 2009 ACC Defensive Player of the Year?
 
Maybe it was because he was named first-team All ACC?
 
Or possibly because he was also an AP All-American?
 
How about all of the above.
