Geno Smith Injury: Updates on Jets QB’s Ankle

Geno Smith's first career preseason game ended early, as the New York Jets quarterback left Friday night's contest against the Detroit Lions after suffering an apparent ankle injury.
Smith landed awkwardly on his ankle after attempting to slide down on a rollout run attempt on 2nd-and-9 early in the third quarter. The gain was called back because of an offensive hold, but Smith was in noticeable pain as he rose to his feet and started hobbling immediately to the sideline.
Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News noted that trainers attempted to treat the young quarterback's right ankle issue on the sidelines:
Actually, it appears like the Jets team trainer is examining Geno Smith's ankle and giving treatment with shoe off.#nyj
