The NFL announced Wednesday it suspended New York Giants kicker Josh Brown one game for a violation of the league's personal conduct policy.
Brown provided a statement to the New York Giants' official site: "While I do not agree with the suspension, I will accept it. I have exhausted the appeals process and have no other options along those lines. I will continue to work hard for this team, and I have tremendous confidence in my teammates and in my ability to move on and contribute to the team."
On Thursday, Brown said he disagrees with the suspension, as the incident happened a year ago and was dismissed five days later, per Paul Schwartz of the New York Post.
According to Seth Walder of the New York Daily News, Brown's ex-wife Molly Brown "told police on the day of his arrest that the Giants kicker had been physically violent with her more than 20 times and that she had previously had a protection order against him."
