Letter from a Concerned Fan to Commissioner Roger Goodell

Dear Roger Goodell,
 
I understand that you are running a business. You are basically the CEO of the National Football League, which makes billions of dollars every year. I also understand that smart people with money are not inclined to just give it way.
With that being said, is this replacement referee headache truly worth the $10 to $20 million dollars that is keeping this deal from getting done? I know that rich people do not separate from money when they do not have to.
I am not foolish enough to believe that contract disputes with unions are easy. I know that they are touchy, difficult and that no one wants to get the short end of the stick. But right now it is us, the fans, who are getting shorted.
As a fan I am starting to worry that it is going to take a player getting hurt for all of this to finally resolve itself. I know in business, tough decisions and hard lines need to be drawn for the good of the business involved.
