Marcus Smith Injury: Updates on Eagles LB’s Hamstring and Return

Philadelphia Eagles linebacker Marcus Smith is expected to miss at least two weeks with a hamstring injury suffered during Thursday's practice. He's hoping to return in time for the team's regular-season opener on Sept. 14.

Smith's Setback Forces Eagles to Reshuffle Defensive Depth Friday, Aug. 21 Zach Berman and Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer reported that Smith confirmed the extent of the ailment and stated that he's targeting Week 1 against the Atlanta Falcons to return. Defensive coordinator Bill Davis is frustrated that the linebacker can't build on his recent progress.
"I'm glad it wasn't anything major, but it's still something that keeps him out," Davis said. "It's disappointing, probably to him more than anybody. He was really taking some growth steps and coming along, and now he's got a setback."
