Matt Hasselbeck Injury Update: Seattle Seahawks Quarterback Out For Week 9

This was announced mid-week, but it bears repeating just in case anyone was uncertain: Seattle Seahawks quarterback Matt Hasselbeck will not play in the team's Week 9 game against the visiting New York Giants after suffering a concussion during Seattle's loss to Oakland last week.

Quarterback Charlie Whitehurst will get his first career start, and will face a tough task against one of the league's toughest defenses. He's got the advantage of playing at home working to his advantage, but he's much less experienced and tested than the veteran Hasselbeck.

The Giants have knocked five quarterbacks out of games so far in 2010, as they've exhibited a ravenous approach to rushing opposing passers. The Seahawks offensive line will be tested throughout Week 9.
