New Orleans Saints Favored Over Minnesota Vikings To Start 2010 Season

The Minnesota Vikings and the New Orleans Saints kick off the 2010 NFL regular season Thursday night in a rematch of last season’s NFC championship game. The Saints won that game in overtime and went on to defeat the Indianapolis Colts in the Super Bowl. Now, NFL odds makers have listed the defending Super Bowl champs as a five-point favorite with the total set at 48 in their season opener.
Minnesota successfully wooed future Hall of Fame quarterback Brett Favre back for a 20th season. As he makes his record 286th consecutive start, Favre will be looking to ruin the Saints’ banner-raising ceremony.
But that will be no easy task for the already legendary quarterback, as the Saints’ boast perhaps the best quarterback in the NFL today. Drew Brees led New Orleans to a 31-17 upset of Peyton Manning and the Indianapolis Colts in the Super Bowl.  Brees threw for 288 yards and two touchdowns on his way to MVP honors.
