It’s certainly no surprise that great quarterback play is an essential ingredient to success in the NFL. In fact, this theory has been proven on numerous accounts throughout the history of the game. In the 1960s, Bart Starr was an integral part of the Green Bay Packers’ five NFL Championships. In the 80s, Joe Montana definitely deserved a lot of credit for four of the 49ers’ five Super Bowl titles. This principle has been carried over to the present state of the league as well. If you take a look at the Super Bowl teams of the past decade, the one thing in common was an impressive performance from the quarterback position. Moreover, 13 of the past 18 NFL MVPs have been quarterbacks. Apparently, there is a strong emphasis on having a franchise quarterback, especially in today’s pass-happy league.
