NFL Draft: Carolina Panthers Owner Not Sold on Cam Newton

There have been reports that Carolina Panthers owner Jerry Richardson is not completely sold on Cam Newton.

Though, it has also been reported that he is expected to defer to his hired football personnel to make the ultimate decision, it is never a good sign when the owner is not on board with the team's first overall pick.

The Panthers also reportedly love the consensus No. 1 receiver in the draft, A.J Green, but all indications point to the fact that they will not draft him if they do not manage to trade back in the draft.

Both would be great fits for the franchise, and a player with the pedigree of Cam Newton would sell a lot of tickets and has the chance to be something really special at the NFL level.

Newton is a better prospect than Tim Tebow was coming into the NFL and, in having a quarterback stable of Jimmy Clausen and Cam Newton the Panthers, would have one of the most intriguing and talented 1-2 combinations in the league.
