Is Minnesota Viking Sidney Rice the best receiver available in NFL Free Agency?
Our Sidney Rice analysis comes with regard to this little tidbit dropped from ESPN 2/21:
“[The Vikings’ decision to franchise tag LB Chad Greenway] means that neither Sidney Rice nor defensive end Ray Edwards will be tagged and each potentially could become a free agent depending on what happens with the ongoing collective bargaining agreement talks."
A month later, the lockout is all that’s preventing Rice from receiving about twenty different massive offers. He’ll be just 25 at the start of next season and, relatively serious hip injuries aside, figures to be the type of star your quarterback of the future can grow old with.
Sidney is the total package—6-4, fast, with excellent hands—and has had one season of elite productivity after which he didn’t regress, he got hurt.
