NFL Lines: New York Giants Favored by Double Digits over Detroit Lions

Both the Detroit Lions and the New York Giants impressed in Week Five. The Lions earned their first win of the season with a 44-6 victory over St. Louis. Meanwhile, the Giants crushed Houston 34-10 on the road. Despite Detroit’s big win last week, NFL oddsmakers are more impressed with New York following back-to-back double-digit wins. As a result, they have listed the Giants as a 10-point favorite with the total set at 44.
After a 1-2 start, which included a pair of embarrassing losses, the Giants have rediscovered the defensive swagger that earned them Super Bowl rings a few short seasons ago.
The Giants allowed 85 points in their first three games, but they have only given up a total of 13 points in their last two. Holding one of the best offensive teams in the NFL to just 10 points on its home field was an impressive feat last week. It appears the Giants are beginning to settle into Perry Fewell’s system.
