NFL Mock Draft 2011: Seattle Prepares for the Future, Takes Ryan Mallett

Let's be honest: is Charlie Whitehurst really the future for the Seahawks?  How about Matt Hasselbeck? 

I didn't think so.

It's true: Seattle's quarterback situation is about to get a whole lot more messy if they aren't able to lock up Arkansas' prolific passer Ryan Mallett in the first round of this year's draft.  But if they do, they'll be in good hands for the next decade.

Though Mallett's stock has taken a gruesome beating over the past few weeks due to awful Combine numbers (5.37 40-yard dash), the need for a prototypical sized, strong-armed quarterback in Seattle is at an all-time high.  And with Matt Hasselbeck entering his 14th season, now more than ever before is the time to act.

Throwing for over 3,800 yards and 32 touchdowns against SEC defenses in his junior season alone, Mallet knows what it takes to play at the NFL level.  Seattle, do what must be done.
