NFL Playoffs: Coach Rex Ryan Talks the Talk, But Can New York Jets Walk His Talk

Just in case you didn’t know, Rex Ryan is the coach of the New York Jets.
The New York Jets are the team to beat in the playoffs and are going to be crowned the Super Bowl champs in a couple of weeks—according to Ryan.
Ryan has carried this sentiment since preseason, when the Jets were featured on HBO's Hard Knocks and he added the date of the ticker-tape parade on the players’ 2010 season schedules.
As a player, having the coach believe in your team is fundamental in terms of overall and personal success. It breeds confidence in the locker-room, but that is where it should stay until you are holding the championship trophy.
When a coach in press conferences reiterates this same, “We are No. 1,” babble over and over, he not only loses creditability with the public, but with the players as well.
