The San Francisco 49ers have put their worst start in over three decades behind them. With three wins in their last four games, they find themselves right back in the NFC West hunt.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have been one of the biggest surprises in the NFL this season. At 6-3, they have already doubled last season’s win total.
While Tampa Bay has the better record going into Sunday’s showdown, history is strongly on the side of San Francisco. The 49ers lead the all-time series 15-3, which includes an 11-1 mark at home.
NFL odds makers have listed the 49ers as a 3.5-point favorite with the total set at 41.5.
San Francisco has been ignited by an unlikely source. Quarterback Troy Smith, who was signed just six days prior to the season opener, has led the 49ers to back-to-back wins.
