Pierre Thomas: Latest News, Rumors and Speculation on Free-Agent RB

Veteran running back Pierre Thomas, who spent eight seasons with the New Orleans Saints before getting released in March, remains a free agent with training camps underway, though the Houston Texans are expected to sign him soon.

Thomas Expected to Join Texans After Arian Foster Injury Tuesday, Aug. 4 Rand Getlin of NFL.com reported Thomas is headed to Houston to work out for the Texans on Wednesday. Ian Rapoport of NFL.com said Thomas will also have a physical with the team, who plans to sign him if everything goes well.
Lance Zierlein of NFL.com believes the Texans will seek a running back with experience in order to help fill the void left by Foster's groin injury reported by ESPN.com's Tania Ganguli. He places Thomas, 30, atop the list of potential candidates because of how well he would fit the team's gap scheme.
