Ryan Mathews Joins Holdout Trio, More Bad News for San Diego Chargers

How many articles have we seen about Ryan Mathews trying to fill the great LaDainian Tomlinson's shoes?
How many rookie bust articles will he show up on? How many times will we read about how much of a stretch it was to get him?
On every account, I defended him, and have given him the benefit of the doubt. I have said adamantly that he was worth the price, he won't be a bust, and replacing LT will be an easy transition. But now... the defense rests your honor!
In my opinion, Mathews was the perfect poster boy of what a  No. 1 Chargers draft pick should be.
He was positive, optimistic and happy to be part of the organization. He was a true shining star in a otherwise dark offseason for the Bolts.
Now it appears that the same cloud of greed that has spread over Shawne Merriman, Marcus McNeill and Vincent Jackson's sky has now reached Mathews.
The luster of being happy, or in Mathews words, "[feeling] ecstatic to be a Charger" has worn off.
