San Diego Chargers 4-3 Defense? It May Be Time

Could the Chargers benefit from a 4-3 defense?
Its a fair enough question, and one that has frustrated many of hardcore Charger fans for quite a while.
The bend-but-not-break defense has been okay, but nothing to to write about as being great in any category.
It worked when Jamaal Williams filled the nose tackle position for over a decade and linebacker play was poor. But I wonder to myself if the 3-4 defense was the Chargers best option in their playoff loss against the Jets.
Against a run team, having three down linemen won't always bring positive results. Stopping the run has given the Chargers fits over the past few years, and most likely sent them home early this January.
If Cam Thomas is the answer to make it all work, then of course we fans will all be happy. But is sticking him in at nose tackle too much pressure for the rookie? I'd have to say yes.
This offseason, the Chargers have upgraded an already strong linebacker corps with the acquisitions...
