San Francisco-Carolina: NFL Odds Give 49ers Slight Edge Over the Panthers

The San Francisco 49ers finally got their first win of the season last week to improve to 1-5 on the season.
Now the 49ers want to try to avoid letting the Carolina Panthers (0-5) notch their first victory of 2010. San Francisco will travel to face the winless Panthers, who are coming off a bye week and hungry to get that first win out of the way on Sunday. NFL odds for this game show us a line of San Francisco -3 over Carolina with a total set of 35.5 points.
This is a match-up between two of the lowest-scoring teams in the league, which is not surprising considering their combined 1-10 record coming in. The 49ers are 30th in the NFL at 15.5 points per game, while Carolina averages a league-low 10.4 points per contest. San Francisco is off to their worst start in 31 years, while Carolina has to go back to 1998 when they started 0-7 for such a bad start. Not surprising, both teams are having quarterback issues.
