Seattle-Denver: Broncos Favored By More Than a Field Goal at Home

The Seattle Seahawks began the Pete Carroll era with a bang, easily defeating a San Francisco 49ers team picked to win the NFC West, but NFL oddsmakers don’t expect Seattle to build on that performance, listing the Seahawks as a 3.5-point underdog with the total set at 40.
Maybe that’s because the Denver Broncos, who lost to Jacksonville last week, haven’t started a season 0-2 in more than a decade.
While Seattle was impressive in its opener, it knows how quickly things can go south. Last season, the Seahawks opened up with a 28-0 win over St. Louis, but they lost their next three games while being outscored 82-46.
If Seattle’s defense can play the way it did last week, it won’t be giving up 82 points over the next three weeks. The Seahawks held the 49ers to just six points and stopped them on 14 of 15 third downs.
