Super Bowl 2011: Green Bay Win Does Not Make Philadelphia Eagles’ Season Better

"At least we lost to the Super Bowl champion."
Those are the words uttered by Philadelphia Eagles fans who buy into moral victories and offer excuses to Andy Reid.
In no way should the Green Bay Packers' 31-25 victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers in Super Bowl XLV make the Eagles early exit from the playoffs look any better or give the fans a false belief that their team was oh so close to claiming the Vince Lombardi Trophy.
It couldn't be further from the truth.
Green Bay took a 21-10 lead against the Eagles with 7:33 remaining in the third quarter of the Wild Card round and then went ultra conservative by running the ball 11 times and passing it on three plays.
The play calling hid the many weaknesses of the Eagles defense and it limited the Packers offense to seven second-half points.
It was as if the Packers toyed with the defense and suggested they could score if they really needed to.
