Yates Workout With Pats Yields No Deal Tuesday, Sept. 20 ESPN's Adam Schefter reported that the New England Patriots brought in Yates for a workout but did not make an offer. 
Still, the Patriots could be desperate for help at the quarterback position at the moment. 
With Tom Brady currently serving a four-game suspension stemming from Deflategate, interim starter Jimmy Garoppolo went down with a shoulder injury during Week 2 against the Miami Dolphins. 
After an initial report that stated Garoppolo would miss Thursday's Week 3 clash against the Houston Texans, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport didn't completely rule him out: "If all goes well, Garoppolo could actually be the backup, though."
