The Bonus Round: Where Do the San Diego Chargers Hit and Miss?

There's a new trend in San Diego. If your'e drafted by the Chargers, you get an assured multi-year contract , even before training camp.
Going into this years draft, The Chargers needed to hit on all cylinders so to speak. They needed a running back, tight end, Quarterback, safety, linebacker and Defensive end, to replace roster holes.
This is a pretty interesting strategy really. A strategy that leaves no margin for error. Lets take a look at Jonathon Crompton for example, a fifth round pick quarterback who was signed primarily to replace Charlie Whitehurst.
Was Crompton that good in college? Statistically no. Surprisingly, he was selected when Tony Pike and Dan Lefeavor were still on the board. When he showed up to San Diego, he was met with a 4 year contract even before training camp. Is this unusual? Extremely.
Did he even have to fight for his job, earn a roster spot, or even be expected to take a snap? Nope! Are the Chargers really this desperate? Apparently s...
