No matter what Mel Kiper Jr. or any other draft expert says, for every Peyton Manning there are at least ten Ryan Leaf's. Each year we hang our hopes and dreams of our team winning the Super Bowl with seven rounds of acquiring untested, uncertain talents.
The NFL Draft is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you are going to get.
Ryan Leaf, Tony Mandarich, Brian Bosworth, Akili Smith, Blair Thomas, Ki-Jana Carter, Bruce Pickens, and the names go on and on. These are just some of the biggest busts ever in NFL draft.
In 1989 Tony Mandarich was supposed to be the safest pick in the draft and was selected at number 2 by the Green Bay Packers. With the 3rd pick in the NFL draft the Detroit Lions selected Barry Sanders. With the 4th pick the Kansas City Chiefs selected Derrick Thomas and history was made.
