I think that is safe to say that running backs are done getting 30 carries per game.
Now, teams have a big, bruising back, and a speedy back.
Rex Ryan of the New York Jets wants Leon Washington, the former Florida State player, to be his change-of-pace back.
The Carolina Panthers have there running backs. DeAngelo Williams a 5' 9" , 217 pound running back that can run a 4.4 40 and Jonathan Stewart, who is a big bruiser, has moves, and can run between the tackles, ran a 4.48 40. These two athletes are very talented and both were 1,000 yard rushers.
DeAngelo Williams' 2009 Stats:
Attempts: 216
Rushing Yards: 1,117
Average: 5.6 yards per carry
Touchdowns: 7
Jonathan Stewart's 2009 Stats:
Attempts: 221
Rushing Yards: 1,133
Average: 5.1
Touchdowns:10
It is fair to say that this is definitely the best running back duo in the NFL and is fun to watch them put on a show.
