Trent Cole Injury: Updates on Colts LB’s Knee and Return

Indianapolis Colts linebacker Trent Cole suffered a knee injury during practice this week. As a result, he'll miss the team's clash with the Tennessee Titans on Sunday.

Cole Won't Travel To Tennessee for Week 3 Saturday, Sept. 26 Stephen Holder of the Indianapolis Star noted Cole was listed among the players who won't make the trip as the Colts face their AFC South rivals. Mike Wells of ESPN notes veteran pass-rusher Robert Mathis is expected to start in his place.
Although Mathis was once among the league's most feared edge rushers, racking up 19.5 sacks in 2013, he's just back from an extended absence due to an Achilles injury.
It's unclear whether he's ready to play enough snaps to completely fill the void. Bjoern Werner could also be thrust into a more prominent role opposite Erik Walden until Cole, who had just five tackles and no sacks in the first two games, returns.
