Vincent Jackson’s Greatest Threat is Ryan Mathews

Vincent Jackson's biggest threat right now is not Malcom Floyd or Legedu Naanee. It isn't any San Diego Charger receiver, actually: it's Ryan Mathews.
Chargers coach Norv Turner has stated publicly that Mathews will get 300-plus carries this year.
This is really a remarkable statement for several reasons.
Norv Turner is a pass-oriented coach, while Ryan Mathews is a recently drafted rookie. The Chargers have an elite passing team.  Their star receiver's career is currently a mystery.
Norv Turner is not a dummy, nor does he jump to conclusions; he's not easily excited, and most often comes off as boring. So when he says Mathews will get 300 carries, you have to think he really sees something there.
The passing game was what got the Chargers into many shootouts over the last few years, and was exciting to watch, but every time they played a run oriented team, they lost the battle of possession time pretty badly. Anyone remember the Jets?
