Will The San Diego Chargers Go To a 4-4 Pass Scheme?

What is a 4-4 pass scheme? Well, it's not exactly proper football terminology, but in terms of making a descriptive article title, I don't know a better expression.
The signing Thursday of Dedrick Epps surprised me. Not because he isn't any good. He is. Not because the Chargers seventh draft pick was a throwaway, it wasn't. But because the Chargers roster already boasts three signed and contracted tight ends—Antonio Gates, Kris Wilson, and Randy McMichael.
When McMichael signed a one-year contract on June 3rd, I read this as "Epps isn't playing well." Obviously, in reviewing the Chargers tight end depth, Gates has the number one spot, and Wilson is pretty well locked in at two, unless McMichael shocks us in training camp.
But a fourth guy? That really surprises me. It could mean that one of the four signed tight ends winds up on the practice squad. That would be a waste of money, unless Gates' foot injury is worse than reported.
