2011 NFL Draft: New York Giants Add Youth to LB Corps with UCLA Star Akeem Ayers

April 12, 2011   ·     ·   Jump to comments

The New York Giants could go multiple directions with this pick.  They could look to add depth on the interior of offensive line with either Mike Pouncey, or at offensive tackle as William Beatty has struggled to this point in his career.
Akeem Ayers would be a perfect fit for the Giants, as Keith Bullock is 34 years old and is entering free agency.
Ayers is a top 15 talent, that struggled in some of his workouts over the past two weeks.  However, the skill set is there and the tape on him certainly indicates that he is a very athletic player.  He needs to work on his pass coverage abilities, but he should not have many problems rushing the passer in the NFL.
The Giants should not have much difficulty finding different ways to get Ayers into the backfield and in opposing quarterbacks face.
