2011 NFL Mock Draft: Denver Broncos Bow Down to Da’Quan Bowers

Da’Quan Bowers Gives the Broncos a Much-Needed Pass Rusher

Like the Carolina Panthers, exactly who the Denver Broncos have their sights set on in this year’s draft seems to change from week to week. Up until they re-upped with Champ Bailey, I though they were a great fit for Patrick Peterson. Instead, I have Peterson going No. 1 overall, and I think the Broncos will look to use their No. 2 pick on Clemson defensive end Da’Quan Bowers.

Bowers is undoubtedly the most talented pass rusher in this year’s draft class, which is chock full of studly defensive ends. At 6’4” and upwards of 275 pounds, Bowers is not the kind of guy you want to be in front of, and it doesn’t help that he can close on a defenseless quarterback as quickly as anyone.

Bowers didn’t work out at the Combine due to injury concerns, but that’s not going to scare the Broncos away when Draft Day rolls around. They finished dead last in the NFL in sacks in 2010, and Bowers should help fix that problem.
